If anyone reading this is thinking of cloth diapering I hope this post makes you think to research just a little bit more instead of buying a pack of flats at the superstore along with pins and plastic pants. Even if you do want to do flats or prefolds, do buy them from a cloth diaper store, the ones at the superstores are too thin and aren't very absorbent.

Please apply common sense to this though. If you remember that you forgot to put your baby diapers on the list, by all means get them. On the other hand, if you feel tempted to get the new chocolate pie because there is a two for one sale, skip it. You will learn a lot just stalking the cloth diapering board. The one issue is that I really didn want to go for the more expensive cloth diapers which can run about 10 to 15 dollars apiece I just really can afford that upfront investment. I was thinking of just getting the Gerber cotton prefolds that come 10 to a package for 13 dollars and then just some pins especially designed for baby diapers that are safe when properly lubricated and used correctly. Then to further eliminate the sensitive skin concern, I would probably just get two packages of eight washcloths and use those for wipes.
